The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) of the University of Colombo celebrated its 50th Anniversary on 16th June 2025. The event was made especially significant by the presence of the Institute’s esteemed founding figure, Dr. Kumari Jayawardena, whose birthday also falls on the same day.
The celebration was further honoured by the presence of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake. The event took place at the IHRA Auditorium from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., and was attended by a distinguished gathering including former Directors of the Institute, Deans of various faculties, academic staff, retired members of the Institute, and students.
As a tribute to the visionary leadership and pioneering contributions of Dr. Kumari Jayawardena, the IHRA auditorium was proudly renamed as “Dr. Kumari Jayawardena Auditorium” during the celebration.
The 50th Anniversary marked a meaningful milestone in IHRA’s journey, reflecting five decades of dedication to human resource development and lifelong learning.
