The Master of Science in Geoinformatics, aims providing an intensive educational opportunity designed to equip knowledge-workers with either advancement in their career in the geographical information industry or to facilitate further research in different disciplines under a practical environment.

Program has been planned to produce high quality M Sc practitioners/professional in different disciplines with necessary knowledge in spatial analytical techniques, which, can be applied to solve their discipline based specific issues.

The Master of Science in Geoinformatics is specially designed for those who are qualified to acquire knowledge and skills of spatial and non spatial data management practices. The multidisciplinary target group consists of Researchers, Academics, Planners, Scientists, Geographers, Geologists, Ecologists, Medical Professionals, Health officers, Development officers, Defense officers, Divisional Secretaries, Environmentalists, Climatologists, Civil Engineers, Agriculturists and any other interested personnel in relevant disciplines.

The Master of Science in Geoinformatics (MSc.GIS) program at IHRA, University of Colombo, is tailored for a diverse audience, including recent graduates seeking specialization in geospatial technology, working professionals aiming to advance their careers in fields like urban planning, environmental management, and disaster response, researchers pursuing advanced studies in geoinformatics, government and non-government employees engaged in geographic information projects, urban planners and environmental managers requiring geospatial expertise, disaster management professionals in need of spatial data skills, entrepreneurs looking to establish ventures in geospatial technology, and international students seeking a high-quality education in a multicultural academic environment. EITHER
a) Graduate from recognized University.
OR
b) Professional or any other Qualifications equalent to a Degree approved by the Institute.
OR
c) Postgraduate Diploma in Geoinformatics conducted by the Institute.
AND
d) The eligible candidate should sit a selection test and/or face an interview conducted by the Institute for selection to the M Sc (Gis)and reach the qualifying standards as required by the Institute.
*Candidates under C) above will be admitted to the 2nd Year.
