πŸŽ‰ IHRA Inaugurates 2024 Counseling Psychology Programs! πŸŽ‰

On September 7, 2024, the Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) at the University of Colombo held a special inauguration for the Diploma and Certificate Courses in Counseling Psychology. πŸŽ“βœ¨

The event, held at the Faculty of Arts, was marked by the lighting of the oil lamp, speeches from distinguished guests including Director Prof. Sagara Chandrasekara and keynote speaker Prof. Praneeth Abeysundara, and a video presentation showcasing IHRA’s achievements. 🌟

The ceremony emphasized the importance of mental health and the growing need for skilled counselors. It concluded with a special lecture by Prof. Chandrasekara, giving students an exciting introduction to psychology.

>>The Inauguration of HDCP 2022

The Inauguration of the Hospitality and Destination Management Certificate Program (HDCP) for the 2022/23 intake was successfully held on September 17th, 2022, at the IHRA Auditorium. Prof. Sagara Chandrasekara, the Course Coordinator and Director of IHRA, orchestrated the event. Vice Chancellor Snr.Prof.(Chair) HD Karunaratne was the Chief Guest.

>>A Workshop of DCP 2022

A successful Two-Day Workshop held on September 20th and 21st, 2022, at Club Palm Bay, Marawila, focused on "Out Bound Training on Psychology," "Communication Skills for Counselling," and "Meditation and Mind Therapy" for Diploma in Counselling Psychology students in 2022. Organized by Prof. Sagara Chandrasekara, the Course Coordinator, and featuring resource persons like Mr. Nihal Hewage, Mr. Aruna Pradeep Kumara, Ms. TMSS Tennakone, and Mr. Padmasiri Gunawardene, the workshop attracted a hundred students. It provided practical insights into counselling psychology, covering diverse sessions on Out Bound Training, Communication Skills, and Meditation. The workshop was a fruitful and enriching experience for students, enhancing their understanding and application of psychological concepts.

>>A Field Visit of HDCP 2022

On November 26th, 2022, a successful Field Visit to Dambara Village in Horana was organized for students of the Higher Diploma in Counselling Psychology 2022. Led by Prof. Sagara Chandrasekara, the Course Coordinator, the visit focused on collecting data related to psycho-social issues and drug abuse prevention. The Gramasewa Niladhari of Dambaragala, Horana, actively participated, providing valuable local insights. This initiative not only enhanced students' academic experience but also contributed to practical understanding and community engagement.
