Inauguration Ceremony of MBM & MHRM Programmes 2026

The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, successfully held the Inauguration Ceremony of the Master of Business Management (MBM) and Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) Programmes 2026 at the University premises.

The ceremony commenced at 09.30 a.m. with the National Anthem, followed by the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, symbolizing the opening of a new academic journey. Distinguished guests, academic staff, and newly enrolled students attended the event.

The programme began with the welcome speech by Prof. WS Chandrasekara, followed by the introduction to the programme by Mr. KDN Hewage (Senior Lecturer, IHRA and Course Coordinator of HRM Unit).

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Solaman Sumanasooriya (Director HRD, Urban Development Authority), delivered an insightful address highlighting the importance of professional development and advanced management education in today’s dynamic work environment.

The Chief Guest, Prof. DAC Suranga Silva, Director of IHRA, addressed the gathering and emphasized the institute’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and producing highly skilled professionals.

A video presentation showcasing IHRA and the MBM & MHRM programmes was screened, followed by student speeches delivered by Mr. GA Piyal Pathmanatha (Vice President, MBM Alumni Association) and Ms. Himali Dissanayaka (President, MHRM Alumni Association), representing the student community.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. KPS Sandamali (Senior Lecturer, IHRA), expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, staff, and participants for their contribution to the success of the event.

Following a tea break, the programme continued with a guest lecture by Mr. WHR Mills (Visiting Lecturer, IHRA), further enriching the academic experience of the participants.

The event marked a significant milestone in welcoming a new cohort of postgraduate students and reinforcing IHRA’s commitment to excellence in higher education.
