The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, proudly celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival – Aluth Awurudu Uthsawaya 2026 on 25th April 2026 at the University of Colombo premises, organized by the Bachelor of Labour Management (BLM) Second Year students.
The vibrant celebration was graced by the presence of Professor Ranjan Hettiarachchi, Department of Mass Media, Sri Palee Campus, University of Colombo, as the Chief Guest. We were also honored by the presence of Emeritus Professor Rev. W. Wimalaratana, Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo.
The event was further enriched by the participation of Professor DAC Suranga Silva, Director of IHRA, and Dr. BLJS Balasooriya.
A special note of appreciation goes to alumnus Mr. Ajith Abeygunawardane, president of BLM alumini association for his generous sponsorship and continued support. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to the academic coordinators Ms. Sugandika Sandamali (Senior Lecturer/IHRA) and Dr. Wijayantha Ukwatte (Senior Lecturer/IHRA) of the BLM degree program, administrative and non-academic staff members, organizing committee, and all students whose dedication and teamwork made this celebration a memorable success.
The festival beautifully reflected the spirit of unity, tradition, teamwork, and cultural pride, bringing the IHRA family together in joy and celebration.
