Highlights from Day 01 of the 10-Day Workshop on Procurement Management

The 10-Day Workshop on Procurement Management commenced on 30 September 2026, bringing together professionals from the Government and Private Sectors to enhance their knowledge and skills in procurement, contract management, purchasing, and supply chain management.

The workshop is conducted under the guidance of Prof. D.A.C. Suranga Silva, Director, Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, with the coordination of Mrs. Nalini Subasinghe, Industrial Course Coordinator, District Secretariat – Colombo, “Nilamedura.” and Mr. A.D.P.I. Prasanna, Procurement Specialist at the National Procurement Commission of Sri Lanka, and a senior administrator in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS), as a resource person.

Day 01 – Introduction to Public Procurement

The first session focused on “Introduction to Public Procurement,” providing participants with an essential understanding of the fundamentals, principles, and practices of public procurement.

The session was facilitated by Mrs. Nalini Subasinghe, who shared his expertise and professional experience in public procurement, providing participants with valuable insights into effective procurement practices and their role in achieving transparency, efficiency, and value for money.

The session established a strong foundation for the subsequent sessions of the workshop, which will address key areas including strategic procurement, contract management, purchasing, and supply chain management.

Through this workshop, IHRA continues its commitment to empowering professionals, strengthening procurement practices, and building value through effective and sustainable procurement management.
