The Short Course in English Language for School Leavers at IHRA, University of Colombo, is a specially designed program to enhance the English language proficiency of recent graduates. Through interactive teaching methods and experienced instructors, participants gain confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, preparing them for future academic and professional success.

Objectives

The Short Course in English Language for School Leavers at IHRA, University of Colombo, is designed with the following objectives in mind:

  1. Speak Confidently: The course empowers students to communicate in English with confidence. Through engaging activities and speaking exercises, participants overcome language barriers and gain the self-assurance needed to express themselves effectively.
  2. Improve Writing Skills: The program focuses on enhancing writing abilities. Students learn to construct well-structured and coherent written pieces, including essays, reports, and other forms of communication, thus fostering better-written expression.
  3. Develop Interpersonal and Communication Skills with English: The course emphasizes the development of interpersonal and communication skills in English. Through interactive group discussions and role-plays, participants learn how to effectively engage with others, both professionally and socially, using the English language as a tool for effective communication.

Program Medium: English

Program Schedule: We offer a comprehensive program on Monday or Tuesday, combining physical lectures, & theory sessions held from 9.00 a.m. to 4.15 p.m.

Target Group

The target group for the Short Course in English Language for School Leavers at IHRA, University of Colombo, includes recent high school graduates or school leavers who wish to enhance their English language skills.

It is designed to cater to dedicated individuals who want to improve their speaking, writing, and communication abilities in English, preparing them for further education, career opportunities, or better English-speaking environment.

Entry Qualifications

Applicants should have reached 16 years of age at the time of enrollment.
