Enhancing Practical Competencies: Two-Day Counseling Psychology Workshop 2026

The Counseling Psychology Unit of the Institute of Human Resource Advancement successfully conducted a Two-Day Practical Workshop for the Diploma in Counseling Psychology programme on 24th and 25th January 2026 at Club Bentota. The programme was attended by 70 students, providing them with an enriching and immersive learning experience.

Under the guidance of Programme Coordinator Prof. W. S. Chandrasekara, the workshop was designed to deliver high-quality practical training aligned with professional standards in counseling psychology. The sessions were facilitated by distinguished resource persons, Mrs. Wishmika De Silva (Clinical Psychologist) and Dr. Wijayantha Ukwatte (Senior Lecturer, IHRA, UoC), who shared their extensive clinical and academic expertise.

The workshop served as an interactive industry-oriented platform where students actively engaged in practical activities, case discussions, role plays, and real-world applications of psychological concepts. This hands-on exposure enabled participants to strengthen their counseling competencies while bridging theoretical knowledge with professional practice.

The two-day programme concluded successfully, marking a productive and memorable milestone in the academic journey of the Diploma in Counseling Psychology students.
